Mayfield Ranch's Mello-Roos Vote Was Left Off the Ballot. Help Us Get a Special Election.

2 min read

Mayfield Ranch residents qualified the Imperial CFD 2004-2 Mello-Roos Tax Repeal and Redemption Act of 2026, and on April 15, 2026, the Imperial City Council approved it for the November 3 ballot. It isn't on the ballot. To put a measure for one district on the ballot, the County needs a map from the City showing which voters live in the district. The City did not send that map by the County's deadline.

The pending lawsuit, Novalk, LLC and Lia Sanchez v. City of Imperial (read about the case), will ask the court to order a special election just for the district's voters, held as soon as the law allows. The City Council can also call that election itself, without waiting for a court.

How you can help

  • Add your name on our special election sign-up page if you're a Mayfield Ranch registered voter.

  • Speak at the City Council meeting on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., City Council Chambers, 220 West 9th Street, Imperial.

  • Check your registration at your Mayfield Ranch address at registertovote.ca.gov.

Statements about the lawsuit describe allegations and public records. Allegations are claims the court has not decided. The City of Imperial and the other defendants are entitled to contest them.
